Spring
I hope you are enjoying the beginning of spring and longer days. Children love spending time outdoors and they want to go outside even more as the weather is getting nicer. Please make sure that children are dressed well since early spring can be cold at times.
Children’s Programme
Baby room did lots of fun activities during last weeks. They were engaged in different activities and messy play such as exploring natural objects, building together with blocks and train set, corn flour play, exploring painting and making music.
The over 2s children were also involved in many exciting activities. They learnt about shapes, numbers, concepts of “more” and “less”, different professions, baking cakes; “writing” recipes and shopping lists; writing their names, reading favourite stories, exploring and identifying feelings. Children also had a police officer and a solder visiting them and talking about their jobs.
We had a great time during our Pyjama Day and Pancake Day events. I would like to thank parents for their support and contribution.
Extra Curriculum Activities
Over 3s children
Story of the week
A well-known story is presented to the children in a different way each day during the week. Different means are used to deliver a story: reading, using puppets and props, acting out involving children in the story. Children enjoy learning about the same story over the week and repetition of words and phrases increases their vocabulary. This approach allows children to delve into a story and enhances children’s involvement and understanding.
Letters and Sounds
Letters and sounds activities are delivered to children on a daily basis. This is designed for older children to support their letter learning and pronunciation. Letters are taught in a playful way encouraging children to become familiar with the alphabet while enjoying learning.
All Children
All children join the following activities in the children’s centre:
Mondays 12-12.45 Under 5s Multi Sports
Tuesdays 1-1.45 Stretch & Movement
Wednesdays 2-2.30 Movement & Dance
All children are welcome to come to these centre sessions. If your child attends nursery on different days than the above, you are more than welcome to bring your child to the sessions. Please check out the children centre timetable for more activities The timetable is displayed in the nursery room and in the centre.
Parents Observations
Parents have an important role to play in their child’s learning and development. The nursery values parents’ contribution to observation and planning as well as to activities. We would like parents to bring home observations to the nursery so that staff members could use them in children’s planning and learning experiences. Please pick up a sheet to record home observations.
Food
The nursery accommodates children with different needs. We have a number of children with allergies and various dietary requirements and we would like to make sure they don’t have access to food they are not supposed to eat. We would like to ask parents not to bring food from home to the nursery unless it is a dietary requirement and is agreed with management.
Staff News
We would like to say good-bye to Chantel Bruno, who is leaving us due to family circumstances at the end of March. We thank her for her work and contribution to Cybertots nurseries during the last 2 years.
